I was born and grew up in Brazil's southernmost state, Rio Grande do Sul. Throughout my adult life, I lived in the U.S. and Germany, teaching philosophy, critical thinking and writing. I taught at Washington University in St. Louis, University of Cologne, and Universidad Federal de Integración Latinoamericana. ​Eventually I quit academia to focus solely on writing, editing and translating.
